Description
I managed to obtain a high quality shiitake mushroom meat alternative from Fable Foods and couldn’t help adding some Asian flavours for a quick and easy meal. 5-Spice Mushroom or Beef Stir fry can be made also with beef instead, plus its gluten free, so it allows you the flexibility to cater to all dietary preferences.
Ingredients
75ml Tamari
25ml Maple syrup
1 tbsp Sesame oil
1 tbsp Five spice seasoning
1 inch Peeled and slice ginger
2 cloves of sliced garlic
1pkt Fable mushroom, shiitake mushrooms or beef
1 Red onion thinly sliced
1 Spring onion thinly slice
Instructions
- Add liquid ingredients (tamari, maple, oil) to a frying pan and heat
- Then spice, ginger and garlic and reduce the heat on when the bubbles appear
- Now add your option of mushroom or meat and stir until completely covered in the marinade
- Continue to fry on a medium heat until the mix is cooked all the way through
- Transfer the mix to a serving plate and garnish with the sliced red pepper and onions
Notes
- I’m not a fan of the overly processed meat substitutes on the market. So, reading ingredients labels and checking for whole foods ingredients is important
- 5-Spice Mushroom or Beef Stir fry matches well with steamed jasmine rice or cooked quinoa
